    • I am happy to announce that India-UK FTA has been finalised: Modi
    • This is a good news for our youth. This will boost India's economic boost. And new opportunities will open up for Indian businesses and MSMEs: Modi
    • There was a time when before taking any big steps, it used to be thought what the world would think, whether votes will be gained or vote bank will be lost. No country can move forward in that manner. The country moves forward when 'nation first' is the policy: Modi
    • In the last decade, India has moved forward with this ideology and today we are seeing the benefits of this: Modi
    • Before 2014, banks were nearly almost destroyed. But today, India's banking sector is one of the strongest in the world: Modi
    • Our banks are in record profit and depositors are benefiting from it. This happened because our govt allowed reforms in the sector: Modi
    • You must remember Air India's situation. It was sinking. Crores from the country were sinking but the government could not take a decision to save it. But we took a decision and saved it, because for us, the country is most important: Modi
    • Our govt has removed 10 crore fake names from the system. And through DBT, all money was sent to the poor. Because of this over Rs 3.5 lakh crore was saved from going into wrong hands: Modi
    • Also, triple talak destroyed several Muslim women's lives, but the govt at the time did not take action. Our govt took action to implement law to fight it: Modi
    • We are moving from GDP-centric approach to progress based on Gross Empowerment of People (GEP): PM Modi
    • India's water used to go outside; it will now stop for India's interests and will be utilised for the country: PM Modi
    • Made in India has given birth to a new revolution. Digital India has also increased the ease of living for people: Modi
    • Atmanirbharta is a part of our economic DNA: Modi
    • We were told India is not a maker but just a market. But today, India is one of the biggest defence manufacturers: Modi

Pakistan’s effort to raise Kashmir at UNSC falls flat

On closed-door UNSC meeting on Kashmir, India's former permanent representative to the UN, Syed Akbaruddin said, "...That's the sad reality of Pakistan's place in the international community today that nobody takes their view into account and there is no resonance for their nuclear boogie or Indus Water Treaty argument or argument about an imminent attack..."

"...Pakistan's quest to use multilateral organisations to attract global attention is not new. We have seen that on many occasions. This time, what it tried was to use an agenda item which has not been used formally in 60 years, the India-Pakistan question. India-Pakistan question was last time discussed in a formal meeting in 1965. So, Pakistan thought that perhaps it could use a channel of this sort to try and bring the issue between India and Pakistan onto the front burner. Alas, this is only grandstanding. We know that Pakistan focuses on public diplomacy rather than serious negotiations. It uses all platforms primarily to project its image within the country and not outside. So, the effort faltered. The grandstanding did not work...The council refused to buy its case. That's a fairly substantial setback for any country which has been working with the 15 countries for several months but finds that what it wants is not being accepted...That's the sad reality of Pakistan's place in the international community today that nobody takes their view into account and there is no resonance for their nuclear boogie or Indus Water Treaty argument or argument about an imminent attack..."

Some members specifically brought up targeting of tourists on the basis of their religious faith. Many members expressed concern that Pakistan’s missile tests and nuclear rhetoric were escalatory factors. Pakistan’s efforts to internationalise the situation also failed. IMD issues yellow alert for Mumbai, Thane for Tuesday and Wednesday

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a thunderstorm alert for Mumbai, warning of lightning, light to moderate rainfall, and gusty winds at isolated locations on May 6 and 7. The forecast is part of a five-day weather outlook released by the Regional Meteorological Centre in Mumbai.

According to the IMD, wind speeds may reach up to 40 kmph during storm activity in some parts of the city.

Mumbai could also see light showers on May 5 and 8, while dry weather is expected to return by May 9, bringing an end to this brief spell of pre-monsoon activity.

Thane, Palghar, and Raigad districts are likely to experience similar weather patterns between May 5 and 7. The IMD has marked the probability of thunderstorms in these areas as “Very Likely,” meaning residents should be prepared for possible strong winds and rain.

Authorities have advised people to remain cautious, especially during the afternoon and evening hours when thunderstorm intensity tends to peak.

Weather experts say these pre-monsoon showers could offer temporary relief from the rising summer temperatures across the region.
